Something blue hair pins

The four must have for weddings known in the tradition are 1) something new 2) something old 3) something borrowed and 4) something blue. When I was preparing for my own wedding last June, I had everything checked except the something blue. I remember telling myself I need "something blue", but I guess all the stress and chaos involved in planning a wedding in 3 months had made me lost track and forgot about the "blues".
It wasn't until months later while I was watching the movie "Bride Wars", was when I saw that tiny blue hair pin the characters Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson played had used and the significance it came with. I thought that idea of something blue was brilliant. In the past I've associate something blue with garters, jewelry, ribbons on wedding dress, flower baskets, etc., but never with hair pins. I did some research online and saw THE particular hair pin that was made for the movie, and did not see any other "something blue hair pins can be compare with the one in the movie. So I thought to myself, why not invent something along that line, and make it even more significant? Thus I created my "something blue" hair pin collection which features freshwater pearl and swarovski crystal (first version). As I continued to explore deeper into the collection, I had created couple more versions using solely freshwater pearls in white and blue. What's unique about my collection is that I tried to make it subtle, so for brides that does not have the color blue in their wedding theme colors can still have that "something blue" and get away with as if they don't have any blues.
First version: made with metallic swarovski crystal bicone as center
Second version: made with freshwater pearl in both white and blue grass
Third version: it's all about blue bubble
and the combos:
There are more "blues" coming soon. I can't wait to create!

New year, new outlook.

Happy new year to all! It's 2010, and new year comes with new start. Looking back on last year, it was amazing in itself because I had finally tied the knot to my loving husband in June. It was a year filled with intensity and excitement, both in my personal life, and in my online business experience. I'm hoping this new year will continue to be filled with happiness and fruitfullness.
Le Jas Chic started on etsy.com since Nov 2008, and has been slowly gaining business. It hasn't been doing as great as I had hoped, but my passion never ceased to push me to continue making pieces that inspired me. As 2009 comes to an end, I was fortunate to receive some recognition of my designs and creativity as customers gave me their time appreciating my work. I'm ever so greatful the business had picked up a little, thanks to everyone that take some time to stop by my store.
As 2010 emerges, new ideas continues to flow through, which I'm so thrilled with continued creativity that I will keep on transforming those ideas into beautiful jewelry to share with everyone.
